Public showing of the video 4th Dec 25

The video we made, Silent Voices 2, had its first public showing this evening. I regret the technical difficulties to start the evening but overall it was a huge success and I am overwhelmed by such great feedback. Most of the people had attended my Open Studio in September. There were twenty two in total. Prior to showing the film I informed the audience of how the project started..social work meets fine art and how I was compelled to undertake research into why so many children were dying when there is public care involvement. I also informed them how I hoped the project might tour. I had written or emailed around ten Universities and colleges where there was Fine Art and Social Care on campus but so far not even the courtesy of a reply! My theory is they are funded by the government and my project exposes government reports and failures. The feedback on the film was tremendous and people were so complimentary about my art work and the project. I also explained how the portraits of the children spurred me on. Portraiture is a very intimate process and when the eyes are established they become close to you. It’s like they look at me and spur me on….Its as though they are telling me to get on with it. Thank you to all the attendees. Lynn and Jez who helped with the technical difficulties and Barbara and Jan for helping with the teas and mince pies. I am very humbled to have such great support. Thank you all for attending.
